To love a soldier

“You’d better come home to me” she said pressing her lips into his

One last kiss before he leaves.

He was gonna be gone to the war front

Said he didn’t know when he’d be back

It’d always been like this

But this mission threatened her heart

So dear underlayed beneath her soul

You’d better be back

Turning away to hide her tears

Fighting to believe the uncertainty

She had to choose positivity

‘When it’s all over he’ll be back’

She comforted herself

She didn’t know it’d be her last.
