When it’s all over

Here and now
Today I give myself permission
To let go of you
And hurt, breakdown, cry
But when it’s all over
I will have lost you
My one strange love
I will have lost a lot of laughter with you
The stupid cute contagious smile you wore that melts my heart
Our embrace, how warm it felt
The joy at hearing your voice
Your kiss that gripped so beautifully my soul
The fear you arrested from my heart when you came around
When my crumbling stops
Close to impossible but I’ll bet on myself and try
When the breaking finally stops with my ashes
I’ll have lost a lot
I’ll be lonely
Maybe even empty
But I’ll have a peace in the known
You couldn’t love me and that’s ok
I’ll be ok in my pieces without you.
